Overnighter to Buffalo, East Aurora, and nearby points
Friday the 13th (2019) felt like a day of promise... a bit brisk, however the forecast was for improving sunshine and no rain during the day! And so, off we went -- over hill and dale, past the Marion Steam Shovel (!) from Henrietta to Scottsville, Mumford, LeRoy, Bethany, Attica, Cowlesville, Bennington, until finally downtown Buffalo! Click on the PDF to see the route we took.
Once in Buffalo, we enjoyed the Buffalo Naval & Military Park, lunch at the Liberty Hound, and then a great double-decker tour of Buffalo Old and New, before heading to the Buffalo Transportation Pierce Arrow Museum which was FULL of amazing pieces of our transportation history, including a newly built Frank Lloyd Wright-designed gas station (constructed indoors). Our route is in this PDF.
Saturday began with a visit to the Erie County Botanical Garden, a beautiful old building with much beauty within... next we enjoyed an visit to the AMAZING Our Lady of Victory National Shrine & Basilica - truly rivals the cathedrals in Europe, all springing from the vision of one man.
After enjoying lunch at Hoak's by the lake, we headed towards Frank Lloyd Wright's Greycliffe, however a scheduling error meant we didn't get tour - which turned out OK because we had more time at the Eden Kazoo Factory!
Sunday began with some time to enjoy the Roycroft Inn and Campus, or a wander over to Viddler's and downtown... before heading over hill and dale towards Batavia for lunch at a bit of Ireland in western NY at O'Lacy's. Route to the right ->
