2018 LAKESHORE MODEL A FORD CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY - from Jim & Ann Marie MacBride

Another year of Model “A” activity has gone by when we have our annual Christmas Party. On Saturday. Dec. 8th we had our annual gala at Brook-Lea Country. This year we had good weather and a record attendance. Forty-one members attended with an initial gathering at the bar, complete with peanuts, pretzels, etc. To enjoy with our favorite libations. Conversation was lively. About 1:15 we made our way to the dining room.

Jim MacBride led the ceremonies, thanking all for attending and announcing that our Director would save his SHORT program until dinner had concluded. Each member was then asked to introduce their selves and their Model “A’s”.

Al Hawn then let our group in prayer especially remembering Nathan Oaks and Kevin Wildman, our members that passed away this year. We then headed to the various food stations (soup, salad, and entrees) to enjoy dinner. Everyone seemed to enjoy dinner and many went back for seconds.

After dinner and before dessert, our Director Dick Barrett started the program. This is always a fun part of the party. Dick presented an overview of plans for 2019 and called on Paul Kron to provide details on our January activity. The highlight of the program is always the recognition of our members that have continued to go that “extra mile” for our club.  Paul Kron was recognized for his efforts in planning and leading activities for our membership and their cars. Sue Smith has served as our Treasurer for many years, collecting dues, paying bills, and communicating with MARC/MAFCA.  Tom Smith continues to provide technical support to our membership and helps keep our Model A’s running safely. Thank you to three wonderful members.

Dick then announced this year’s recipient of the Director’s Award-the highest honor presented to our membership. Jim Burlingame was honored for his many efforts to support our club-Gravity Feeds editor, club photographer, general club e-mail communications and event leader. He was presented with a computer carry bag for his well-deserved contributions on our part.

Now came the fun-presentation of the annual Hard Luck Award. Jim Burlingame, our 2017 winner,  began by renewing his announcement that he has lost the travelling award and is searching for the member that may have brought it home by mistake last year. We will postpone this presentation until further notice or until Jim redesigns and makes a new award. Wow, that is hard luck!

The final activity was having dessert. This year’s Model “A” cake featured a photo taken at our joint meet with the Buffalo area clubs held in the park in Ogden about 4 years ago. We cut 41pieces for our 41 members and all were consumed-sorry-no seconds.  As the party ended, there were lots of hugs and wishes for a Merry Christmas to all.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

JIM & ANN MARIE MACBRIDE
